Why move

What the cloud can do for your business

Migrating to the cloud can give you better redundancy, improved security and better accessibility, while also reducing costs or capital expenses.

Work from anywhere

Email, files and applications available securely on any device, in the office or on the road.

Better resilience

No more single server in a cupboard. Cloud platforms are built for redundancy and backup.

Stronger security

Modern identity, multi-factor authentication and device controls that are hard to match on-premises.

Predictable costs

Swap large hardware purchases for subscriptions that scale with your team.

What we migrate

Cloud migration services

Most common

Microsoft 365 migration

Move email, calendars and files from on-premises Exchange, Google Workspace, another Microsoft 365 tenant or older email hosting. Includes OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams setup, plus choosing the right licences.

Microsoft Azure

Move servers and line-of-business applications to Azure, with identity, networking, backup and cost controls set up from the start.

Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Migrate workloads to AWS, or tidy up and secure an existing AWS environment.

Hybrid setups

Keep what needs to stay on-premises and connect it securely to your cloud services.

Application migrations

Move and re-package business applications so they run reliably in their new home.

Security after the move

MFA, Conditional Access, device management and backups configured so you're more secure than before.

Smith Technology Group provided outstanding support for our recent digital transition. They managed a complex DNS migration, built custom Squarespace sites aligned with our B2B requirements, and stepped in quickly when our email system went offline. Ryan’s communication, responsiveness, and attention to detail were exceptional, and the service delivered was excellent value. Highly recommended.

We are a small business who was seeking to automate our data collection from multiple markets and global sales each month to save time and resources by using Power BI. But we didn't have internal knowledge of Power BI and our data sources were PDFs, Xcels and were varied.
I cannot speak highly enough of Ryan who executed this project.
He is highly skilled in Power BI, highly professional, methodical, communicative and patient.
He mapped all our data inputs, created an automated intuitive Power BI system to save our monthly sales into a folder, and now this automatically generates an updated dashboard view each month. This used to take half to a full day, and now takes 20 minutes.
As the GM of a small company, this is already giving us much deeper insights and actionable data - all by simply saving input files into a folder. It has been a very worthwhile decision.

We’ve been working with Ryan from Smith Technology on the Tyre General website, and his technical expertise has been exceptional. He’s played a major role in developing and streamlining our product pages, transforming thousands of variable tyre listings into a structured, user-friendly, and high-performing format.
Ryan handled everything from cleansing and organising large product data sets to building dynamic templates that automatically pull through specifications, imagery, and key SEO elements. He’s also optimised back-end code and improved page load speeds, ensuring our customers can easily browse by vehicle type, brand, or category. Beyond the front-end experience, Ryan built custom forms and automated data workflows that make updating and managing our catalogue incredibly efficient. His ability to combine technical precision with a strong understanding of our business needs has been invaluable.
Highly recommend Ryan, Lara and the Smith Technology team, they’ve made a complex project feel seamless and delivered results that genuinely elevate our online presence.

FAQ

Cloud migration questions

How long does a Microsoft 365 migration take?

It depends on the number of users, how much email and data you have, and where you're moving from. We'll give you a realistic timeline after a short assessment, and plan the cut-over so your team can keep working.

Will our email go down during the migration?

We plan migrations to avoid lost email. Mail and files are copied in the background first, and the final switch (usually a DNS change) is scheduled for a quiet time, such as after hours.

Should we use Azure or AWS?

Both are excellent. If you already use Microsoft 365, Azure often fits more naturally with your identity and licensing. AWS can suit particular workloads or existing investments. We've migrated clients to both and will recommend what fits, not what we prefer.

Do we have to move everything to the cloud?

No. Many businesses run a hybrid setup, moving email and files to Microsoft 365 while keeping a specific application or server on-premises until it makes sense to move it.

Can you migrate us from Google Workspace?

Yes. We can move mail, calendars, contacts and Drive files from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 and help your team get comfortable with the new tools.
