Reporting shouldn't take days every month

Most small businesses have the data they need. It's just scattered across exports, spreadsheets and emailed reports, and someone loses a day each month stitching it together.

Data in too many places

Sales in one system, stock in another, market reports arriving as PDFs and spreadsheets in different formats.

Hours of manual work

Copying, pasting and reformatting the same numbers every week or month, with a real risk of mistakes.

Answers arrive too late

By the time the report is ready, it's out of date and nobody has time to dig into what it's telling you.

What we do

Data consolidation and automated dashboards

Map your data sources

We work out where every number comes from, what format it arrives in, and how it all fits together.

Consolidate and clean

Excel workbooks, CSV exports, PDF reports, SharePoint lists, databases and business systems combined into one consistent data model.

Automate the refresh

Drop new files into a folder or connect directly to the source, and the data updates on a schedule. No more copy and paste.

Build clear dashboards

Power BI dashboards designed around the decisions you make: sales by market, product, customer or period, with drill-down when you need detail.

Share securely

Publish reports to the right people through Microsoft 365, with access controlled by who needs to see what. See Microsoft 365 licensing.

Training and handover

Documentation and hands-on training so your team can use, trust and update the reports themselves.

We mostly use Power BI, together with Power Query in Excel. Where a different tool is a better or cheaper fit for your business, we'll recommend that instead.

From a full day of reporting to 20 minutes

Kolorex, a small business selling into multiple global markets, was compiling monthly sales from PDFs and spreadsheets that came in different formats. They had no in-house Power BI knowledge.

We mapped every data input and built an automated Power BI system. Now they save the month's files into a folder and an updated dashboard is generated automatically.

“He mapped all our data inputs, created an automated intuitive Power BI system to save our monthly sales into a folder, and now this automatically generates an updated dashboard view each month. This used to take half to a full day, and now takes 20 minutes. As the GM of a small company, this is already giving us much deeper insights and actionable data…”

We are a small business who was seeking to automate our data collection from multiple markets and global sales each month to save time and resources by using Power BI. But we didn't have internal knowledge of Power BI and our data sources were PDFs, Xcels and were varied.
I cannot speak highly enough of Ryan who executed this project.
He is highly skilled in Power BI, highly professional, methodical, communicative and patient.
He mapped all our data inputs, created an automated intuitive Power BI system to save our monthly sales into a folder, and now this automatically generates an updated dashboard view each month. This used to take half to a full day, and now takes 20 minutes.
As the GM of a small company, this is already giving us much deeper insights and actionable data - all by simply saving input files into a folder. It has been a very worthwhile decision.

We’ve been working with Ryan from Smith Technology on the Tyre General website, and his technical expertise has been exceptional. He’s played a major role in developing and streamlining our product pages, transforming thousands of variable tyre listings into a structured, user-friendly, and high-performing format.
Ryan handled everything from cleansing and organising large product data sets to building dynamic templates that automatically pull through specifications, imagery, and key SEO elements. He’s also optimised back-end code and improved page load speeds, ensuring our customers can easily browse by vehicle type, brand, or category. Beyond the front-end experience, Ryan built custom forms and automated data workflows that make updating and managing our catalogue incredibly efficient. His ability to combine technical precision with a strong understanding of our business needs has been invaluable.
Highly recommend Ryan, Lara and the Smith Technology team, they’ve made a complex project feel seamless and delivered results that genuinely elevate our online presence.

FAQ

Power BI and reporting questions

Do we need to buy Power BI licences?

Power BI Desktop, used to build reports, is free. To share dashboards with colleagues online, each person typically needs a Power BI Pro licence (it's included in Microsoft 365 E5) or the organisation needs Premium capacity. We'll recommend the simplest, lowest-cost setup for the number of people who need to see the reports.

Our data is in spreadsheets and PDFs. Can that really be automated?

Often, yes. If the files arrive in a reasonably consistent format, Power BI can read and combine them automatically, including Excel workbooks, CSV exports and many PDF reports. Where a source is messy, we'll tidy the process up so it can be automated reliably.

How do the dashboards stay up to date?

Usually you just save the latest files into a set folder, such as SharePoint or OneDrive, or connect straight to the system the data lives in. The dashboard then refreshes on a schedule, so there's no copying and pasting each month.

Is Power BI the right tool for us?

For most businesses already using Microsoft 365 it's the natural choice. If a simpler option, such as an automated Excel report, would do the job better or more cheaply, we'll tell you.

Will we be able to maintain it ourselves?

Yes. We build reports to be understandable, document how the data flows, and show your team how to use and update them. We're also happy to stay on call for changes.

How much time could you save on reporting?

Tell us what reports you produce today and where the data comes from. We'll suggest what can be automated.
